State Certifies Amprite as a Woman Business Enterprise
On May 1, 2007 the Governor's Office of Diversity Business Enterprise for the state of Tennessee certified Amprite Electric Company, Inc. as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) as defined in T.C.A. 12-3-801 et. seq. Along with this honor, Amprite will be added to Tennessee's certified business directory and will be made available to state and local government agencies and private industry seeking diversity vendors.
The Governor's Office of Diversity Business Enterprise is the central point of contact to attract, direct and support minority, women and small businesses.
Teresa Pickney has extensive involvement in the history of Amprite Electric Company. Her father-in-law, Paul Pickney, founded the company in 1961 and her late husband, Mike Pickney, took ownership in the late 1980's. Teresa became the Chairperson of the Board in 2001 and currently maintains ownership of the company, giving Amprite the distinction of being a "100% Woman Owned Business".
